FLEKS is a graffiti and contemporary urban artist from the Netherlands. He has been painting since 1998. For him, graffiti is the ultimate expression of freedom — a state where instinct and action become one. It is about getting lost in the process, following the flow, and pushing beyond the boundaries of the expected. A wall is never just a wall, and a canvas is never limited to a frame. Any surface, any place, can become a starting point for creation.
Beginning with letters, FLEKS has continually reshaped his name in an evolving visual environment, expanding into robots, futuristic cities and graffiti spaceships. From the streets to the studio and across cities around the world, he keeps exploring what graffiti can become — without losing sight of what makes him paint in the first place.
About the artistic development, FLEKS’s practice has evolved from letter-based graffiti into a broader visual language encompassing urban narratives, futuristic cityscapes, robotic forms, public art, mixed-media painting, and imagined spacecraft. His work explores the intersections of street culture, technology, and imagination, reflecting on the evolving visual identity of the contemporary city.
Based in Taipei — a city where historical heritage and futuristic architecture merge into a vivid cyberpunk landscape—FLEKS draws daily inspiration from the urban pulse around him. His practice transforms the grey, gritty textures of modern infrastructure into vibrant visual dialogues, infusing the metropolis with dynamic energy.
Moving seamlessly between continents, FLEKS continues to study urban environments, while also redefining and altering public spaces. FLEKS keeps blending the boundary between graffiti, street art and fine art disciplines.
